Paradise!

Aloha, Hawaii, what can I say, it's Hawaii! We had a good time, but on the way out it is a constant reminder that we are really leaving the states. In a way it is harder than leaving the lower 48. I went to dinner at a great sushi restaurant, had a few Mai Tais, but mostly relaxed. I bought the obligatory Lais, Macadamia nut chocolates that Niki loves, some Kona coffee, and sent home some post cards and stickers for the girls. The best part was the two hour nap I took under a palm tree on Waikiki Beach. All in all it was a good time, but too short. I pray this post finds you all happy and healthy. Mahalo!

Looking good man! Glad you got a little time to relax and enjoy Hawaii. I'm jealous of the nap. :) Hope things are going well for you and you're back before you know it!

Grandpa, Uncle Bill, Uncle Jack and the gang left for the annual fishing trip yesterday. The weather looks like it is going to cooperate. The trip is going to be bittersweet for everyone this year. We miss you and wish you God's speed.

Aaron,
Keep your head on straight, your butt down and remember all the skills you learned as an Eagle Scout.

You're in our thoughts and prayers,
Gary Durand and Terry too!

Did anyone wonder what ship I was posing in front of or where it was taken? I forgot to mention it in the original blog, but that was leaving Pearl Harbor and I'm standing in front of the USS Missouri! The last great warship the Navy ever had. Niki and I toured it on our honeymoon and it was incredible. Check out the website on the "Mighty Mo" under Aaron's favorites.

Anyone know the history behind the statue my buddies and I are standing in front of? "Duke" is well know as the greatest athlete in Hawaii's history and the originator of moderns surfing. He was known as the human fish and won 3 gold medals in the olympics. For more information on the incredible life of this extraordanary man check out his website under Aaron's favorites.
